The best part of launching a new church so far?

Every single minute of it.

New Community Church is off and running!  Sunday night, in spite of almost 48 hours without electricity, we celebrated with about 40 friends and family the birth of New Community Church.  Here are some of my favorite highlights:

1 – Generations across the board spending time together.
We literally saw people from 2 years old to 86 years old enjoying the evening.
My 2, 5, and 7 year olds couldn’t stop talking about their new friends the middle school girls.
Both my wife’s and my grandparents attended.
We saw college, high school, middle school, and elementary students.
Young families and more “mature” families.
Single and married.
Working and retired.

New Community is a church that loves strengthening families.

2 – Those who already understand what we’re driving for.
I took a few minutes to spout vision.
But I believe it’s already there.
I feel like the waves of God’s plans for this region through the life of a new church is are crashing all around and we simply have the privilege of riding them.
As I spoke I watched heads nod and eyes light up with the things God wants to do.
This is going to be an amazing adventure.

New Community is a church beyond Sundays.

3 – The already answered prayers.
After the cookout my 5 year old came up to me and said thanks.
I asked her for what and she said this:
“For praying.  You prayed for us to find friends and we did tonight!”
The past week has already brought so many answered prayers–
From connections with people to financial partners to new friends–
We are amazed at the things God is doing.
